Methoxphenidine

Originally created and clinically tested in 1989,, methoxphenidine has recently come under the spotlight as a valuable research alternative for the outlawed arylcyclohexylamine family. The substance is also known as 2-Meo-Diphenidine or simply MXP, and is very closely related to diphenidine, another research material that has recently received some attention. This substance belongs in the diarylethylamine class, which is believed to have dissociative properties comparable to those of ketamine or phenylcyclidine. The molecule contains a piperidine ring, which holds the terminal amino group of the phenetylamine chain, with an additional phenyl ring attached.

The primary pharmacological mechanism of action for methoxphenidine is antagonistic impact on NMDA receptors, which explains its analgesic and dissociative properties. Some researchers believe the chemical also has some potential to interact with the transporter molecules for dopamine and serotonin, although there is currently no quantitative data to support this claim.
